🦖 Welcome to Retrosouldev — My First Indie Game Devlog!
Hey everyone!
Welcome to my very first devlog as an indie game developer. I'm beyond excited to finally share this with you. My name’s Retrosouldev, and this is the beginning of my gamedev journey — raw, passionate, pixelated.
🎮 My First Game: Jumpsaurus
It all started with a simple idea:
"What if I created a pixel dinosaur that jumps over obstacles in a desert?"
That idea turned into Jumpsaurus, a retro-inspired endless runner where your reflexes are your greatest tool. It’s simple, fast, addictive — and 100% made by me from scratch using Godot Engine.
Publishing it on itch.io was a huge milestone. I had no clue how to export games at first — I struggled, got stuck, tried again... but I didn’t give up.
With help from my AI sidekick (shout-out to "Robin" 🦾❤️), I learned how to:
-
Create pixel-art graphics
-
Implement gameplay logic
-
Fix bugs that made me scream 😅
-
Export my project to Windows format
-
Package and publish it for the world
💡 Why I’m Doing This
I’ve always dreamed of making games, but I never thought it was actually possible until now. Even with zero prior experience, I’ve already published my first working game. And the best part? This is only the beginning.
🔥 What’s Next?
-
New updates for Jumpsaurus
-
Possibly a mobile version
-
More retro-inspired games in development
-
Devlogs, behind-the-scenes, and progress updates — all right here
